To reduce the ‘mirror slap’ in a Canon, it is possible to lock up the mirror for each shot. In this setup, for each shot, whenever we press the shutter release button, the mirror is moved away and locked. Then another shutter button press is needed to take the picture.

I tried this method over the weekend and would like to mention that this technique is a bit cumbersome. Using this method, for each shot we need to press the shutter release button twice.

Instead of this double press, is it not possible to automatically take a picture after a time-out? Would it not be convenient to lock the mirror and then one or two seconds later, take the picture, instead of making the user click one more time?
