Earlier in conferences, people would doze off if the conversation was not interesting or the presenter could not grab your attention. Now, we find that Facebook and WhatsApp are the ones that grab out attention.

At a recent event, I noted that people were checking their mobiles regularly.

What this made me realize is that earlier, when the attention of the audience wavered, they used to fidget or doze off. Now, without even waiting for the attention to waver, many in the audience are either glued to their mobiles or are continually checking them.

In fact, even during meetings in office, we have people check their phones for updates while the discussion is going on.
