One of the modes that we can experiment with and control in a DSLR is Shutter Priority, commonly abbreviated as Tv on a Canon. As this setting allows us to control the length of time for which the shutter remains open, allowing more light to be collected by the sensor. The most common use of shutter priority when we wish to take photographs in low light – either in the shade, in the evening or at night.
