Recently we purchased a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. With each new release, Samsung not only seems to be adding names to the phone, but also is reducing the number of apps bundled with the phone.

Earlier, in the Samsung Galaxy 3, an Office document editor was included, which had the ability to edit standard office documents. In the recent Samsung Galaxy S4 mini with Android 4.2, the edit functionality was removed and replaced by a place holder Polaris Office viewer that had to be downloaded separately from th Samsung App store. Once the phone was upgraded to Android 4.4.2, even Polaris Office viewer has disappeared.

Now, with Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime – which comes with Android 4.4.4 – not only is an Office document viewer not bundled, but even the default, native music player has vanished. Instead, music has to be played through Google’s Play Music application.
