With the announcement that Foxconn – the famous manufacturer for smartphone for many companies around the world – having signed a patent agreement with Microsoft for Android handsets, it is time for Google to take action.
While Microsoft may have some patents that are useful for smartphone technology, it is time for Microsoft to openly state these. When not disclosed, these patents are threats that can be used to extract money from rivals, as the actual agreements are kept secret.
For more clarity in the Android market, it is time for Google to openly ask Microsoft to state its patents or simply file for declaratory judgement stating that Android does not violate any patents.
