How to ensure the reader will be hooked and will buy the next installment of the book?

Jeffrey Archer has written some wonderful books – long versions and short stories – many of which I have liked. Recently he started a new series – The Clifton Chronicles – a trilogy.

For an example of how to write an interesting climax for the second volume of the series and ensure that the reader will look forward to the third volume of the series, please read the first two parts, namely
‘Only Time Will Tell’ and ‘The Sins of the Father’.

While the author manages to keep interest alive from volume one to volume two, I felt that the interest created at the end of volume one
is far better than the one at the end of volume one.
